SCA Welcomes New Head of School
Springfield Commonwealth Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher J. Hopkins as the School's next Headmaster, beginning July 1. Mr. Hopkins, who grew up in Massachusetts, has spent 31 years teaching, coaching, living in dormitories and administrating at five very different schools, and most recently has been headmaster for 11 years at Maine Central Institute, in Pittsfield, ME. Asked what drew him to SCA, Hopkins responded, "During my three visits to campus, I was impressed by the dedication of the faculty, staff and administrators, as well as the open, inquisitive, welcoming students whom I met. Like the school I've served at for the last 11 years, SCA's mission is to educate a wide variety of students from multiple backgrounds and geographic locations. SCA is already a strong community with tremendous potential to grow and develop opportunities for students both in- and outside of the classroom." Mr. Hopkins will be on campus in starting in July and welcomes any communications or visits from past, current or future SCA students and parents.
