Springfield Commonwealth Academy (SCA) was founded in 1885 on a historical campus that first served as an all-girls school in 1890. After re-opening its doors in 2012, SCA has served as a distinguished, independent college preparatory boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12 and postgraduates. Our urban setting, diverse community, and college preparatory curriculum provides students with a quality private school education.

SCA has a strong academic atmosphere, ranking among the top 20 boarding schools in the United States, and has received international students from China since 2018. SCA is a private boarding school that can provide a well-rounded and complete education from grade 9 to grade 12 and post-graduate (PG).
SCA is a member of the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC) and is accredited by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). In addition, SCA is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC).
SCA is one of the two major SAT test centers in Springfield. The school is qualified and prepared to host the SAT test on its campus so SCA students can take the SAT test without leaving school.

Springfield Commonwealth Academy’s 20-acre campus provide students with a true college housing experience. The campus is comprised of 15 above-ground buildings including teaching buildings, indoor sports facility, library, dining hall, student dormitories and apartments, theater and more. All dormitories are limited to 1 or 2 students and feature high-quality wooden furniture. Adult staff live alongside students in the dorms to ensure their safety and comfort.
Springfield Commonwealth School (SCA) is located in the eastern part of Springfield, Massachusetts, USA (East Coast). It is conveniently located near various facilities in the center of the city and overlooks Springfield’s landmark building, Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame across the street from campus.
SCA is between only 30 minutes and 1.5 hours away from world-famous schools such as Harvard University, MIT, and Yale University and so on. There are 50 colleges and universities within 50 miles of SCA campus. SCA has also established student-support relationships with surrounding universities such as Massachusetts State University and Smith College. SCA students can register to attend courses at these institutions.
